#TherapeuticThursday – April 28th, 2016

I am going to start something new. Every Thursday I am going to get out and do something that refills my cup. As a wedding planner, my job is amazing but also can be very stressful at times. Additionally, I have a tendency to overcommit myself. As a result, I sometimes go weeks without taking a moment to stop and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation! I am going to call my Thursday outings #TherapeuticThursday (some of you may roll your eye at the hashtag, but I sort of love it). I plan to share photographs on my blog and social media with what I’ve been up to. I encourage you to join me in taking sometime to get out and enjoy all that life has to offer. Remember, if you don’t take care of yourself, you cannot take care of anyone else!

For my first #TherapeuticThursday, I absolutely had to stop and take some photographs of the lake. The waves were so impressive! So was the wind, which meant my stop didn’t last long. I’m looking forward to the wind going away and the sun coming out so I can spend hours walking the lakeshore. Today’s little taste of the beauty and power of the lake was amazing!

For the last week, we’ve been having what some locals call a “blower.” This translates to essentially sustained gail force winds.

The lake looks filthy near the shore due to all the rain and heavy winds we’ve had. You can see how further from shore it turns beautiful blue! I am hoping to get up high this weekend to take some photographs of the color because it is stunning to see.

My main plan for my first special Thursday outing was to be with horses. As such, I spent much of the day grooming horses at Witchtree Training Center. I love when Kathy and Mary invite me up, even just to get filthy trying to help the woolly mammoths (aka: horses) shed their winter coats. Spending hours getting covered in horse hair is oddly therapeutic.

Even the chickens are over the wind – they were using the bush for cover! We had a good laugh about it.

Stormy posed for a few photos with me. Can you tell that she made my Thursday so much better?

Horses make everything better.

The other Mary and her Colt, Jack. Jack likes to play dead, but really he was just soaking up the sun and getting out of the wind by laying behind a hay bale. He is pretty smart for not even being a year old yet.

Jack’s mom, the other Mary, is pretty smitten with the little snip of white on his nose.

Oops… I interrupted nap time!

Its been a very long time since I’ve seen a photograph of myself with a horse sharing a special moment like this. The few minutes I spent with Stormy were very special. Seeing this photograph stirs emotions I cannot quite put into words. All I can say for sure is that this moment refilled my cup and seeing this photograph has my cup overflowing.
